Chris Hadfield on One Strange Rock

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to look down on Earth while floating in space 400km above the planet? Colonel Chris Hadfield, world-renowned astronaut, helps to answer this question and more on National Geographic’s ten-part cinematic series One Strange Rock.

One Strange Rock takes on the extraordinary story of Earth, exploring what makes it one of the most peculiar and unique places in the universe from the perspective of some of the only people who have ever left it. Along with co-host Academy-Award nominee Will Smith, Colonel Hadfield joins seven other astronauts to tell the story of Earth through their unique perspectives with each episode tackling a different theme or question.

The series, directed by Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan), premiered in early 2018 to critical acclaim, and recently won a Jackson Hole Science Media Award for best exploring the science of planet earth and the cosmos beyond.

National Geographic said that 81 million people worldwide have watched at least part of the series, making it the channel’s fourth most-watched series globally. Thanks to this success, One Strange Rock has been renewed for a second season to air in 2019.
