Gerry Dee is one of the funniest people to hit the comedy scene — ever. The creator, writer, and star of the smash hit CBC comedy series Mr. D, his signature stories about the absurdities of life at the front of the classroom and growing up the son of Scottish-immigrant parents have become famous to his fans.
In real life, Gerry was a private school teacher for nine years — teaching was his career until switching to full-time comedy in 2003. Accordingly, he bases many of the jokes and quips seen in Mr. D on his personal experience.
Mr. D aired its final episode in 2018 after eight successful seasons. Today, Gerry is the host of Family Feud Canada, which has been running for a successful seven seasons. He also stars as “Templeton” on the FOX/Hulu series Animal Control alongside Joel McHale and appears as a guest star in the new CBS comedy DMV.
In addition to his television work, Gerry has appeared at numerous comedy festivals, was named “Best Comic in Canada,” and finished third on Season 5 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. His stand up special can be seen on Netflix.
Gerry is also the author of two bestselling books about teaching and parenting, continuing to share his signature wit and insight with audiences across Canada and beyond.
Gerry resides in Toronto with his family.
